LAUNCH & PRIVATE VIEW - Ivan Mott
Camden Lock Art Studio Gallery launches on Thursday 10 July with a thrilling retrospective as well as exciting new and hitherto unseen work by Ivan Mott.
The Camden Lock Art Studio Gallery is presently home to artist in residence and curator Ivan Mott. His remarkable collection is both a love letter and hate mail to Camden. If you were to turn up the art you might hear fragmented rhythms and the burning passion of rasping vocals expressed in oil on canvas.
As well as drawing inspiration from Camden's geography and demographic, Bosnian-born Mott submerses himself daily in painting from dusk till dawn emerging from the night's excess to review fresh painting. From seductive boudoir scenes to rakish, sinewy nudes, each canvas is suffused with the interplay of shadows, light and atmosphere.
Mott's haunting figurative and geographical collection is further supplemented by thrilling new takes on iconic potraiture of rock and roll legends from Hendrix to Winehouse.
